Students at Texas Southern University received a special surprise when Houston’s own rapper Megan Thee Stallion made an appearance for an event on Wednesday(November 8).
“I’m back home. I’m back in the city,” Megan said.
Established earlier this year, the fund is poised to distribute over $175,000 among 20 deserving TSU seniors, chosen from a pool of applicants. This scholarship is made possible in part by the exclusive Flamin’ Hot University merchandise line, crafted by fashion luminary Melody Ehsani, with creative input from Megan.
“I wanted to take a burden off other students who probably thought, ‘Dang, how am I going to get through school.’ So, I wanted to give the graduating seniors a little coin,” Megan shared in recent press statement.
In addition, Flamin’ Hot will make an additional contribution of $100,000 to the Pete and Thomas Foundation, a non-profit launched by the Grammy-winning artist in 2022. The foundation is committed to supporting and uplifting women, children, elderly citizens, and underserved communities in Houston, with a focus on education, housing, and health and wellness.
